Initially, unpack your Canon printer if you haven’t done it yet.
Now, install the print heads on the appropriate slots.
To do so, raise your printer’s scanner unit or cover.
Open the print head cover and the lids.
Unpack the print heads that were shipped along with your printer.
Now, install the color print head on the left slot and the black one on the right slot.
Ensure that the heads are installed properly.
Now, close the lids and the covers.
Switch on your printer.
Plug the power cord from your printer’s inlet into an electrical outlet. Press ON.
Set the preferences as per your needs and save them by following the prompts displayed on the screen.
After doing this, fill the ink tanks.
Raise the scanner unit again.
Open the tank caps. The black ink tank will be on your left-hand side, and the color tanks will be on the right-hand side of the printer.
Fill the ink tanks with the correct ink types.
Ensure that the tanks are not overfilled.
Now, close the tanks and lower the scanner unit.
Press OK if the “Are the ink tanks filled…” message is displayed on the printer screen.
Perform the on-screen prompts to complete the printer’s hardware setup.
