Hardware setup:
If you are new to the printer setup, follow these steps.
- Start by unpacking the printer.
- Check the printer components and take them out of the box.
- Remove the packing materials from the printer.
- Connect your printer to an electrical outlet using the provided power cord and turn it on.
- Set your basic preferences, such as language, country, date, and time.
- If you are setting up the printer with ink tanks, pour inks into the tanks using the provided ink bottles.
- If your printer supports cartridges, install the provided cartridges after removing the seals from the nozzle parts.
- Next, load the paper input tray of your printer with the supported print media.
- Start ink charging and complete aligning the print head.

Software setup:
- If your printer package includes the Setup CD-ROM, insert it into your computer’s CD/DVD drive.
- Run the setup file from the CD drive to begin the driver installation.
- If you don’t have the CD-ROM or the computer doesn’t support the Setup CD-ROM, download the driver from the official Canon site.
- To get the driver, open the default browser on your computer and go to the official Canon site.
- Input your printer’s model number in the search field.
- Click the printer model from the search result.
- Click the Drivers & Downloads tab and wait until your OS version is detected.
- Choose the required driver from the displayed list and click the Download button.
- After completing the download, go to the Downloads section in the browser.
- Double-click the downloaded driver file to run the installation.
- Agree to the EULA and choose your connection type.
- Follow the instructions in the setup wizard and establish the connection between your printer and computer.
- Once your printer is detected, verify the printer functionality and complete the Canon printer Ij start setup.
